CAD Episode 2

The next morning, Halo City had a new problem. Not dragons. Not superheroes. Not giant robots. Pigeons. Thousands of them. Nobody knew where they came from. Nobody knew why they arrived. And nobody could explain why they all seemed determined to occupy the exact same part of downtown. For the second day in a row, City Aftercare Department found itself dealing with something that absolutely should not have been happening. Rook stared at the sky. Then at the pigeons. Then back at the sky. "Yesterday was a dragon." Big Moe nodded. "Yep." "And today it's pigeons?" "Yep." Rook looked around at the sea of feathers. "Is this normal?" Big Moe thought for a moment. "Unfortunately."
For nearly an hour, the conversation stayed focused on pigeons. Migration patterns. Food sources. Nesting behavior. The usual. Then Ms. Reed said something strange. Very strange. Signal pointed toward the city map. "Why are they gathering downtown?" Ms. Reed barely looked up from her notes. "The birds always followed the trains." Silence. Rook blinked. "The what?" Ms. Reed looked up. Confused. "The trains." Big Moe frowned. "There aren't any trains downtown." For a moment, Ms. Reed looked genuinely surprised. As if she had forgotten something. Or remembered something. Then she laughed softly. "That's right." "Not anymore." Nobody spoke. Nobody knew why. But suddenly the room felt colder.
THE AFTERCARE RESPONSE Within thirty minutes, the entire downtown district had become a battlefield. Not against villains. Not against monsters. Against pigeons. Thousands of them. Every rooftop was covered. Every traffic light had birds sitting on it. Store owners were panicking. News crews were broadcasting live. And somehow City Aftercare Department had been assigned to solve the problem. Big Moe tried food diversion stations. It failed. Chef Pulse attempted a carefully planned feeding route. It failed. Rook suggested politely asking the pigeons to leave. That failed immediately. Meanwhile, Nyla was having the greatest day of her life. The gray blue-nose pitbull raced through the crowd chasing pigeons while Signal desperately tried to keep her focused. Across the street, Glitch stopped laughing. Something had caught his attention. The pigeons weren't moving randomly. They weren't gathering around food. They weren't nesting. They were following a pattern. A very specific pattern. As Glitch studied the city map on his tablet, a chill ran down his spine. The largest groups of pigeons were gathering along routes that shouldn't exist anymore. Old transit routes. Old pathways. Old parts of Halo City that had disappeared from modern maps. For the first time all day, Glitch stopped thinking about pigeons. And started thinking about mysteries. Because whatever was happening downtown... it wasn't about birds. Not really.
CHEF PULSE STUDIES THE KEY Back at The Junction, Chef Pulse examined the key under a magnifying lens. Every scratch. Every marking. Every tiny detail. The key wasn't modern. It wasn't mass-produced. It was handmade. Old. Very old. And the Stitch Symbol was carved directly into the metal. The same symbol appeared in her mysterious Recipe Book. The same symbol appeared in the tunnel beneath the freeway. And now every clue pointed toward Harmony Row. The question was no longer what the key opened. The question was why somebody wanted it forgotten. PICTURE 7 — GRAY MAKES A CALL Gray didn't like mysteries. Especially mysteries that involved sealed records. Sitting alone in her office, she stared at the reports spread across her desk. The dragon. The key. The tunnel. The Stitch Symbol. Harmony Row. Finally she picked up the phone. If the answers existed, they were buried somewhere deep inside the city's forgotten archives. And Gray intended to find them. No matter who tried to stop her.
The Strange Comment 👀 "The birds always followed the trains." The room went silent. Because Halo City doesn't have trains downtown. At least... not anymore. Sometimes the creepiest clues aren't hidden in secret files. Sometimes they slip out during normal conversation. #HarmonyRow #CityAftercareDepartment #MysteryComic #Webcomic #HaloCity
GLITCH CONNECTS THE DOTS The comment should have been meaningless. Instead, it became the beginning of something bigger. Glitch pulled old transit maps from the archive shelves. One map became ten. Ten became twenty. The more they searched, the stranger things became. Again and again, the same symbol appeared. The Stitch Symbol. The same symbol from the tunnel. The same symbol from the key. The same symbol nobody could explain. Then Signal found a name. Harmony Row. A place that appeared on dozens of old maps. And nowhere else.
GRAY MAKES A CALL Director Gray didn't believe in coincidences. Not anymore. Not after years of cleanup operations, missing reports, unexplained incidents, and questions nobody wanted answered. The dragon. The tunnel. The key. The Stitch Symbol. Harmony Row. Each clue should have pointed somewhere different. Instead, they all pointed to the same place. Sitting alone in his office, Gray stared at the files spread across his desk. Outside, Halo City continued as if nothing was wrong. Inside, Gray knew better. He picked up the phone. The number hadn't been used in years. Maybe decades. When someone finally answered, Gray didn't waste time. "I need access to the Harmony Row archives." A long silence followed. Then a voice replied: "Director Gray... you know that site is restricted." Gray looked down at the reports. His team was already too close to the truth. "If I'm right," he said quietly, "this isn't just old history." Another silence. Longer this time. Finally the voice spoke again. "You'll have an answer by morning." The line went dead. Gray slowly lowered the phone. The room felt quieter than before. And for the first time in a long time... he wasn't sure who was watching whom.
THE INVESTIGATION DEEPENS The deeper the crew looked, the stranger the evidence became. Old transit routes all pointed toward the same location. Old planning documents referenced stations that no longer existed. Even the pigeons seemed connected. As if they were following paths the city itself had forgotten. The clues weren't random. They were leading somewhere. And that somewhere was Harmony Row.
THE PAST OPENS The first newspaper changed everything. Then came another. And another. Old photographs. Old blueprints. Old maps. Evidence that Harmony Row had once been real. Not a rumor. Not a myth. A real neighborhood. A real station. A real community. Yet somehow it had vanished from history. Not destroyed. Not abandoned. Erased. And somebody had gone through an awful lot of trouble to make sure nobody remembered.
THE STATION REVEALS ITSELF The final map revealed what the others had been hiding. Every route. Every symbol. Every clue. All led to the same place. Beneath Halo City. The crew followed the evidence into the darkness. Past forgotten tunnels. Past sealed doors. Past places that should not have existed. And finally they found it. Harmony Row Station. Silent. Waiting. Hidden beneath the city for decades. For a long moment, nobody spoke. Then Ms. Reed whispered something that nobody would forget. “Some places aren't abandoned.” “They're erased.” And for the first time in a very long time... Harmony Row was beginning to remember.
